For our next featured student, we wanted to celebrate a dog who has been rocking our advanced obedience classes for some time now. It’s these students, who show up week after week and perfect all the fun things we do in our Skills and Drills class that make me so proud.
I was actually introduced to this featured dog through my 2023 summer Rally-Obedience classes when they enrolled in my beginner class and soon moved up into the advanced course over the month. It’s been a full training friendship ever since!
Introducing the beautiful Carlie, a 9 year old German Shepherd cross (her DNA test says she also has some Weimaraner but who knows….maybe in her right paw?? Lol).. Carlie was found as a puppy on the streets of Houston TX before landing in her beloved Vancouver home, where she is treasured by her person who loves attending weekly training class.
Carlie loves working with her person, evident in her enthusiasm within the current Saturday Skills And Drills class. She has gorgeous, floating heel work and a joy she gives to all of her training. Her calm presence is supportive for dogs in the class who are more anxious and prone to reactivity and for that reason, I love to pair dogs with Carlie who need confidence. Carlie exudes a peaceful energy. There is always a big smile on Carlie’s face when she comes to class!
Outside of training, Carlie’s pastimes include being a wave-chaser extraordinaire at MacDonald Beach. She has a penchant for anything peanut butter. Already we are gearing up for the summer set of Rally-Obedience classes and Carlie will have a front row ticket. I need to create some challenging courses for this girl in that case!
