Each month we want to feature a dog who has come into the Vancouver Animal Shelter, through no fault of their own, needing a soft place to land and a something to call their forever home.
Our second featured rescue for October is Brisket, an adorable little Staffordshire Terrier who has just celebrated his first birthday at the Vancouver Animal Shelter, and has been there for well over a month now.
Brisket is a rehome after his owner moved away and was left in a bad situation. Due to his past, Brisket may have some previous trauma with small spaces, (for example, apartments).
He is an extremely friendly boy, and at times almost TOO friendly! He means well but doesn’t always know what personal space or boundaries mean, both with humans and with dogs. He is a young dog with a lot of energy and would be best with someone who can devote time to training and is active. Brisket could be a fantastic candidate for dog sports (something we are a big fan of), as he is extremely smart and athletic and has a lot of drive to work with his person.
Brisket is what we call “a lot” of dog and so he will need a dedicated experienced adopter. Due to his enthusiasm level, Brisket is not the right fit for inexperienced dog owners or for children. He has been neutered, vaccinated and given a clean bill of health.
