Had such a wonderful experience with the first couple of lessons we started with Shannon and our new rescue puppy. She definitely catered the training to exactly what she felt my dog needed and was extremely realistic and understanding with him. We will be looking to continue more in the warmer months, as well as attending group classes!
I am so happy we chose Zen Dog Training with Shannon!! We did the puppy classes, grade one, grade two and now we are moving to skills and drills! It’s so exciting to see where my pup started and where we are now. Shannon is very knowledgeable and she does not only teach commands and obedience, but also how to bond with your dog. We're so happy to have found Zen Dog Training. After getting a high energy puppy that was jumping, biting, and tearing all our clothes we were feeling a little hopeless. We attended the puppy kindergarten classes and felt totally reassured that we had a great puppy after all. This class goes beyond 'sit' and 'down'. We learned impulse control which brought a huge change in our puppy, eye contact, and how to use a chill mat. Shannon is great as she teaches you what you need to know now and preventative things you'll need in the future. As well, she always had time for our many questions. Also, the leash, clicker, treat bag, ad treats you get with the class may seem like a gimmick but I love that leash, and bag, and Ruby loved the treats!
We have been working with Shannon and Jen at Zen dogs for over 7 years. It started with our highly dog reactive female GSD, Ebony. With private sessions, group classes, nosework class , and sessions of growl class we have a handle on this tough girl ( who is a sweetheart with people, children, bunnies, cats, coyotes! just not dogs). The packs walks worked amazing with Ebony. Four years ago I wanted to get another dog to be able to work with in competitive obedience. With Shannon's help I was able to add an 8 1/2 week old GSD puppy who has now just turned 4. The fear was we would duplicate the issues Ebony had but with careful work and attending classes with Moody this has not happened. Moody is a graduate of Zen Dog kindergarden, level one, nuts and bolts, circuit class, tracking class. Of course we still attend the pack walks. We know how to manage Ebony keeping her comfortable and Moody is a balanced happy boy who loves to work. Highly recomend Zen dogs, it will work for you as long as you listen to the trainers and put in the work.
We went through puppy kindergarten, grade 1, and grade 2 with Shannon and cannot recommend her classes enough! Her patient and positive approach to training has absolutely helped us through some growing pains as new puppy parents. We left each course with the confidence to build on our pup's training and navigate ongoing behaviour with a supportive approach that truly has enhanced our relationship with our pup.
Shannon is awesome! Super knowledgable and patient with her training. Dash loved working with her and learned so much. She provided so much insightful information for what to do, buy, how to act etc... to support raising a rescue pup. The information is invaluable and will go a long way even now that our sessions have finished.
Just completed a Rally O class with my 10 month old terrier. It was so much fun! We experienced challenging courses, constructive training and great support from Shannon. I would highly recommend this course to dog owners with good training basics.
I have known Shannon for years, she helped with training of Roxy, my first black lab.Did amazing job. When I moved down the street from Simply Natural, found out she was doing puppy classes there.So after I found Marli, female black lab puppy, I did not hesitate to take her puppy classes. Shannon is an amazing trainer and I highly recommend her classes. She is extremely knowledgeable and detailed in her descriptions, and helps support every student in reaching their training goals. Once I started working with Shannon, I saw a marked increase in my puppies confidence and decision making skills, and our connection is so strong now. Highly recommend Shannon and Zen dog training.
We did five private sessions with Shannon, and wow—game changer. Right off the bat, she nailed what Bami (our high-energy, lovable pup) needed and gave us actionable strategies we could use immediately.What I loved most was her focus on systems—not just quick fixes. She didn’t just train the dog; she trained us, showing us how to communicate clearly and set boundaries that actually work.Results? Night and day difference. Bami listens better, walks are way smoother, and there’s just less chaos in general. If you're on the fence about dog training, trust me: invest in Shannon. You’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner.
